The short version

We collect the minimum we need to run lowkey, we never sell your data, and we work hard to keep senders anonymous. The sections below explain what we collect, how we use it, and the choices and rights you have.

Who we are

lowkey is operated by DYM LABS LLC (also referred to as lowkey, we, us, or our), the controller of your personal information. You can reach us about privacy at hello@lwk.bio.

Information we collect

• Account information: your username and, if you choose to add it, an email address used to secure and recover your account.
• Badges and content: the badges and messages you send and receive.
• Device and usage information: details such as device type, app version, language, and how you interact with the app, used to run the Service and keep it safe.
• Approximate location: a general, city or region level location derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location.
• Purchase information: when you buy lowkey Pro, Apple or Google processes your payment and shares limited transaction details with us. We do not receive your full payment card information.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

• provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
• deliver badges and show your profile and inbox;
• create and secure your account;
• process lowkey Pro subscriptions;
• prevent, detect, and respond to fraud, abuse, and safety issues;
• communicate with you about the Service;
• measure and improve our marketing and ads; and
• comply with our legal obligations.

Analytics

We use Mixpanel to understand how people use lowkey so we can improve it. Mixpanel processes usage and device information, such as the actions you take in the app, device type, and app version, on our behalf. We do not send Mixpanel your badge contents to identify individual senders. You can learn more in Mixpanel's privacy policy at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.

Advertising

We use Meta (Facebook) advertising tools in the lowkey app and on our website, including the Meta SDK in the app and the Meta Pixel on the web. These help us measure how our ads perform, understand which actions people take (like installs or sign ups), and reach people who may like lowkey. This may involve sharing limited information, such as app events and device or usage data, with Meta. On iOS we ask for your permission before tracking you across other apps and websites (App Tracking Transparency), and you can change this anytime in your device settings. Legal bases (for users in the EEA and UK)

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal information based on: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service); our legitimate interests (such as keeping the Service safe and improving it); your consent, where required; and compliance with legal obligations.

How we keep senders anonymous

When you send a badge, we do not reveal your name or identity to the recipient, ever. lowkey Pro members may see anonymized hints about the senders of badges they receive, such as a general city, device type, or time of day, but never information that identifies the individual sender.

How we share information

• Service providers: companies that help us operate, such as hosting, infrastructure, analytics (including Mixpanel), and payment processing, who may only use the data to provide services to us.
• Advertising partners: we use Meta (Facebook) advertising tools in the app and on our website (the Meta SDK and Pixel), which share limited information, such as app events and device data, with Meta to help us measure and improve our ads.
• Legal and safety: when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the public.
• Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

We do not sell your personal information for money. We do use Meta advertising tools in the app and on our website, as described in the Advertising section, which may count as sharing for advertising under some privacy laws.

Data retention

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and afterward only as long as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it. Backups may persist for a limited time.

International transfers

We may process and store information in countries other than where you live, including the United States. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect your information when it is transferred.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. If you are in California, you have rights under the CCPA and CPRA, including the right to know, delete, and correct, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them. You can exercise these rights in the app or by emailing hello@lwk.bio. We will respond as required by law.

Children's privacy

lowkey is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at hello@lwk.bio and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice in the app or by other reasonable means and update the date above. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means you accept the updated Policy.
